INTERNATIONAL TECH AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUMMER CAMP 2021

SYNOPSIS

The summer camp is designed to develop and hone students’ skills in entrepreneurship, ICT, vocational training, leadership, communication and soft skills which are critical for success in modern competitive workplace and business environment.

Our courses are practical and project-based. It promises to be fun, engaging and participatory as the students will have opportunity to work in teams and collaborate with others. Our tutors and facilitators are highly skilled and experienced in their disciplines. We have invited highly successful entrepreneurs and professionals to share their business, leadership and life lessons with the students to motivate and challenge them. The programme affords parents the opportunity to positively engage their children and wards during the holiday.

Highlights:
  • Duration: August 9 – 20th 2021. 10.00am – 1pm . Mon – Fri.
  • Age bracket: 8 -18 years
  • Fee: Discounted fee of N15,000 per child. 
  • Students will work in groups to develop their business plans, build websites, digitally market their products/services and pitch to a panel for cash awards up to N100,000.
  • Delivery: Lessons will be delivered virtually via Zoom while Edmodo will be used to manage classes, projects and assignments.
  • Facilitators will be available online to attend to students’ queries within 24 hours
  • There will be separate classes for primary and secondary students
  • Parents and guardians of registered students can attend the guest speakers’ sessions for FREE. We have invited highly successful entrepreneurs and professionals to share secrets of their successes. 
  • All classes will be recorded and accessible to all registered students 
  • Mentoring opportunity is available for successful business plan pitches 
Guest Speakers Profiles:
  1. Dr Olayinka Erin

Olayinka ERIN holds a PhD in Accounting from Covenant University, Nigeria. He has over sixteen (16) years of extensive experience from financial services industry, multinational firm, consulting and academia. He won the first prize of 2019 Africa Call for Research Paper Initiative (ACPRI) jointly sponsored by World Bank, Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) and African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA). He presented the outcome of the research initiative titled “Does public transparency and accountability impact Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Africa?” to policymakers in 2019 at the 5th African Congress of Accountants (ACOA) held in Morocco. He also won the first prize for the best PhD colloquium at the 4th International Academic Conference of Accounting and Finance organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) in 2018. He is a recipient of Pan African Doctoral Academy (PADA) at University of Ghana in 2019 partly sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. He has published in high impact accounting journals (ABS/ABDC Ranked Journals) such as International Journal of Disclosure and Governance (IJDG), Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change (JAOC), International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation (IJAAPE), Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting (JFRA) and  fro-Asian Journal of Finance and Accounting (AAJFA). His research areas are Corporate Governance, Risk Governance, Sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Reporting. He belongs to several professional organisations such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Institute of Management Consultant of Nigeria (IMCN), and Society of Educational Administrators of Nigeria (SEAN). He currently lectures at Anchor University, Lagos at the department of Accounting. He is also an adjunct faculty at Rome Business School, Nigeria.

  1. Bimpe Bakare

Bimpe is an experienced Commercial and Contract Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the energy industry. Straight out of Nigeria Law school, she opted for an LLM in International Commercial Law at the University of Aberdeen and returned to Nigeria after her course to join one of the Big 4 Consulting firm – PricewaterhouseCoopers where she took on the role of Consultant – Tax and Corporate Advisory services.

She left consulting to join the Oil and Gas major – Shell Nigeria and held various contracting and commercial roles in Supply Chain Management and  Commercial for Deepwater, Shallow water projects and Gas Business for Shell. She combined her role with a Global MBA at the Imperial College Business School, London.

She left Nigeria based on family needs for Canada and immediately joined the largest Canadian Integrated Energy Company (Suncor Energy) as Senior Contract Manager. After a short stint with Suncor, Bimpe was headhunted for a role with TC Energy – one of North America’s leading Energy Infrastructure Company as Senior Contract Manager/Lead- Sourcing and Contracts supporting all Gas and Liquid projects in Canada, US and Mexico.

Bimpe who is also an internationally trained lawyer (called in Nigeria), is currently undertaking the process of converting to the Canadian Bar.

She loves spending time with family biking and learning new things through books and research.

  1. Ronke Adepoju

Ronke is a strategy and business management professional with over 12 years of experience in Financial Services, Management Consulting, Non-Profit and Technology.

She has led teams in developing strategies and initiatives, implementing operational efficiency, identifying partners, ensuring best practice standards and stakeholder management. She is an expert in leveraging technology and innovation to solve problems and providing advisory services to scale businesses.

Ronke is passionate about financial inclusion, women empowerment, education, economic development initiatives and programs that create job opportunities and promote SME businesses particularly those that leverage technology.

Ronke has worked with Citigroup, Deloitte Consulting, BAYI Foundation and Bolt Food. She has an MBA from Hult International Business School San Francisco and a BBA from City University of New York. She has a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate, Financial Modeling & Valuation certificate, Entrepreneurship for Emerging Markets certificate from Harvard University and a Financial Development and Financial Inclusion certificate from International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Alison Currie

Alison Currie is the Principal of Southern Ontario Collegiate, Hamilton, Canada.

Southern Ontario Collegiate is a private, university–preparatory, secondary school that prepares international students to meet admission requirements for universities in Canada, the US, UK, Australia, and other countries around the world.

She will be talking on the admission and immigration requirement for gaining admission into top overseas university.

Catherine Inwere

Catherine has a B.SC in accounting from University of Port-Harcourt, River state Nigeria. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Fellow of Association of Certified and  Chartered Accountants of UK.

She has worked in various financial positions in various organisations including ExxonMobil Nigeria and Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands.

She currently is a  Finance Freelancer consulting on Finance activities in different organisations as well as a joint ownership and management of  commercial  farming operation in South west Nigeria.

  1. Joshua Adetifa Aderopo

Joshua Akinropo Adetifa is a Digital Marketing Consultant and Website Developer with 6 years’ experience. He is the lead Trainer at Creativ360dymensionz! A digital marketing and website development company. He has trained over 200 students in various aspects of IT many of whom are upwardly mobile professionals in various careers, students and children.

  1. Grace Coker

Studied Business Administration at Landmark University.

Is a Cambridge certified teacher Teaches Business Studies and Enterprise.  She is happily married and loves to write short stories and she likes watch movies as her favorite pass time.

She is passionate about child growth and development and dedicated her time to seeing the entrepreneur in her students come to light.
